Mausam says, “Since I was young, something about makeup and skin care really caught my attention ! The interesting colours and textures with amazing packaging.

I just had to know how to get that picture-perfect look and clear skin.

6 years ago I took a chance and casually started a summer course here in Bombay, wasn’t sure if this would work out as a real profession because back then no one had an idea about what exactly this was. People also wouldn’t get makeup done so often. But the interest I had in it, couldn’t stop me from learning and giving a shot.

I just went for it.

My Skin Type: Oily during summer and dry during winter

Eating clean and staying hydrated can make your skin glow and keep it clear like no products can. Working out / being active is very important to avoid pigmentation.

Once you’ve got this right, a simple skin care routine will be enough. A gel based moisturiser and sun screen in the day, a cream based moisturiser in the night. That’s literally what I do. I don’t think elaborate skin care routines do anything to help my skin.

Morning Routine

Clinique 5Image via- FashStyleLiv

My morning routine is quite simple, I use the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Foam Face Wash or Aderma Soothing Foaming Gel Face Wash.

Then, I moisturise my face and neck with a thin layer of Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replinishing Hydrator, and then use the Eryfotona Actinica Sunscreen from ISDIN which is SPF 50+ so I don’t need to keep re-applying it.

Face wash should be changed according to what your skin needs, use a harsh/ mild/ normal/ exfoliating face wash depending on the weather and your skin texture:-

  • If you have oily skin, go for water or gel based moisturisers to avoid shiny skin.
  • If you have dry skin, go for a thick cream based moisturiser for hydration and to avoid cracking,
  • And if you have sensitive skin, go for the dermat recommendation only or your skin could break out.

I also use the Vaseline Lip Balm it’s the best lip balm I’ve ever owned!

Prepping for a big event

Make sure to exfoliate your skin to remove dead cells. You can do a DIY glow mask at home, Google has some wonderful recipes! Plus, Use a good moisturiser and then do your makeup, the finish will be polished. And always remember to have lots of vitamin C in your food and avoid fried food.

There are a lot of products and things you can do for anti-ageing as well, and I guess everyone has their own way. For me, precaution is better than cure.

DO NOT be harsh on your skin or rub it vigorously or stretch it while removing makeup. The more you stretch it, the quicker it will wrinkle up. It’s that simple. Don’t treat it bad, aging will be slower.
